Dr Sunday Omeike

Scientist

"A time when indigenous science news and research reports become regular major topics in the Nigerian media, then we can boldly say we are on the path to economic diversification”

Sunday Omeike, an Early Career Scientist, is a Microbiology lecturer (Industrial and Applied) in the Department of Biological Sciences, McPherson University. His major research interest is the search for novel antibiotics produced by microorganisms screened from the diverse and untapped Nigerian environment. He is also interested in Antibiotic resistance monitoring, especially in communities with possible threats. Dr. Omeike, as a science communicator, believes scientific outcomes, regardless of localized impact, should not end on laboratory benches but be translated into news items for public consumption, and this can become reality if scientists actively engage in science outreach and community education.
